From Dermalocity
Our Tiny Tattoo Certification + Mentorship Program through Dermalocity combines comprehensive self-paced online prerequisite education with personalized, individual training and ongoing professional mentorship.
Start online. Learn at your own pace.
Your journey begins with online prerequisite training that you complete at your own pace.
This foundational education prepares you for the hands-on portion of your training and allows you to learn, review, and build your knowledge on a schedule that works for you.
Throughout the process, you'll have access to your trainer and the Dermalocity community for questions, guidance, and support.
Personalized training begins when you're ready.
Once you successfully complete your online prerequisites, you'll move into the individualized portion of your education.
Your training is personalized, allowing your instructor to provide direct feedback, answer your questions, evaluate your technique, and guide you through the hands-on skills needed for tiny tattooing.
Your live model training is scheduled individually so we can find a time that works with your schedule.
Train in Cincinnati or from anywhere
The live model portion of your training can be completed:
- In person at our Cincinnati training facility,
- or
- Live on camera from anywhere in the world
Both options provide real-time, one-on-one instruction and guidance while you complete your hands-on training.
A modern alternative to the traditional apprenticeship model
Traditional tattoo apprenticeships can be extremely competitive and may require extensive unpaid time before an apprentice receives substantial hands-on instruction.
We created a more direct educational path.
Your training focuses on the knowledge and skills that matter: infection control, safety, skin and tattoo theory, equipment, technique, application, hands-on practice, client considerations, and the professional foundations needed to begin developing your career.
Instead of waiting for opportunities to learn, your education is intentionally built around learning.
Your Essentials Tiny Tattoo Kit is included
No trying to figure out what equipment to purchase or piecing together supplies on your own.
Your program includes an Essentials Tiny Tattoo Kit with the tools and supplies needed for your training and to continue developing your skills afterward.
Certification + licensing guidance
After successfully completing all program requirements, you'll receive your Tiny Tattoo Certification.
Tattoo licensing, registration, facility, and health department requirements vary by state and local jurisdiction. We'll also help you understand the requirements in your area and provide guidance as you navigate the appropriate licensing or registration process.
Certification is the milestone. Mentorship continues.
Finishing your training doesn't mean the questions stop.
As you begin working independently, you may want feedback on your technique, have questions about equipment or infection control, need help troubleshooting a service, or simply want guidance from someone with experience.
That's why mentorship is an important part of this program.
You'll continue to have access to professional support and the Dermalocity community as you grow your skills and begin building your career.
Licensing & regulatory requirements
Tattoo licensing, registration, facility, and health department requirements vary by state and local jurisdiction. We have extensive experience working with students across multiple states and municipalities and pride ourselves on going above and beyond to help our students identify the information, requirements, and appropriate regulatory contacts specific to their individual circumstances.
We will help guide you in understanding where to start, who to contact, and what questions to ask as you navigate the licensing or registration process in your area.
Because tattooing is a highly regulated industry and requirements can vary and change by location, it is ultimately each student's responsibility to perform their own due diligence and confirm that they are in full compliance with all applicable state, county, city, health department, licensing, facility, and other regulatory requirements before providing services.
Our goal is to make that process less overwhelming by providing guidance, resources, and support while helping you connect with the appropriate regulatory authorities for your individual situation.
