Our 300-Hour Advanced Manicuring Program is designed for students who want more than the minimum education required to enter the nail industry.

The program includes the foundational 200 hours of manicuring education plus 100 additional hours of advanced manicurist training, for a total of 300 hours.

Upon successful completion of the program and applicable Ohio State Board examination and licensing requirements, graduates are eligible to pursue licensure as an Advanced Manicurist.

200 Hours vs. 300 Hours

Ohio requires 200 hours of board-approved education to pursue an initial Manicurist license.

Our 300-Hour Advanced Manicuring Program adds 100 additional hours of board-approved advanced education, giving students more time to learn, practice, gain hands-on experience, and develop their skills before entering the professional nail industry.

For full-time students, this extends the program from approximately 9 weeks for the 200-Hour Manicuring Program to approximately 13 weeks for the 300-Hour Advanced Manicuring Program.

200-Hour Manicuring Program

  • Approximately 9 weeks when attending full time
  • Pathway to initial Manicurist license

300-Hour Advanced Manicuring Program

  • Approximately 13 weeks when attending full time
  • Pathway to Advanced Manicurist license

That's approximately four additional weeks of education for students who want more preparation and the opportunity to pursue an Advanced Manicurist license.

Why Choose 300 Hours?

Two hundred hours can go quickly.

While Ohio's 200-hour requirement provides a pathway to initial licensure, students choosing the 300-hour program have an additional 100 hours to practice their technique, work with products, improve efficiency, gain hands-on experience, and build confidence before entering the industry.

Those additional hours may be especially valuable for students who:

  • Want to pursue an Advanced Manicurist license
  • Want additional hands-on experience before beginning their career
  • Are interested in eventually becoming a manicuring instructor
  • May relocate to another state with different or higher education-hour requirements
  • Want additional time to develop advanced nail techniques
  • Want to enter the industry feeling more confident behind the nail table
  • Are interested in building a long-term professional career in nails

A Pathway Toward Teaching

If teaching future nail professionals is part of your long-term career plan, advanced licensure is an important step.

In Ohio, applicants pursuing a Manicurist Instructor license must hold a current Advanced Manicurist or Advanced Cosmetologist license and meet the state's additional instructor education or experience and examination requirements.

Choosing the 300-Hour Advanced Manicuring Program allows students to complete the education needed to pursue their Advanced Manicurist license from the beginning rather than returning later to complete the additional advanced hours.

Planning to Move? Additional Education May Matter.

Licensing requirements are not the same in every state.

If you think you may eventually relocate outside of Ohio, completing additional education hours may be beneficial when pursuing licensure in another state.

Every state establishes its own education, examination, reciprocity, endorsement, and licensing requirements, so additional hours do not guarantee eligibility in another jurisdiction. Students planning to relocate should always verify the requirements of the state in which they intend to practice.

However, completing 300 hours rather than stopping at Ohio's 200-hour minimum gives you an additional 100 documented hours of professional nail education that may be helpful when navigating differing state requirements.

More Time Behind the Nail Table

Nail techniques take practice.

The additional 100 hours give students more opportunities to work on application, shaping, product control, efficiency, nail art, advanced services, client experience, and overall confidence.

Students can continue developing skills in areas such as:

  • Advanced Manicuring Techniques
  • Gel-X
  • Nail Enhancements
  • Structured Nail Services
  • Dip Systems
  • Advanced Nail Art
  • Gel Services
  • Natural Nail Care
  • Pedicuring
  • Product Knowledge
  • Client Consultation
  • Infection Control & Disinfection
  • Professionalism
  • Client Experience
  • Career & Business Development
  • And More

Advanced Education for Today's Nail Industry

Today's nail industry has expanded far beyond the traditional basic manicure.

Clients are seeking specialized services, creative nail art, advanced enhancement techniques, structured services, and nail professionals who understand both the creative and technical sides of their profession.

An additional 100 hours gives students more time in an educational environment to practice, experiment, ask questions, receive instructor feedback, and refine their skills before beginning their professional careers.

Build Your Confidence Before Building Your Clientele

Technical ability is only one part of becoming a successful nail professional.

Students also need confidence working with clients, managing appointment times, conducting consultations, maintaining proper infection-control practices, recommending appropriate services, rebooking, and creating an experience that encourages clients to return.

Those additional 100 hours provide more opportunities to develop these skills before graduation.
